Hi all im new to this forum.
I drive an audi a4 1.8T 2005 B6 last of its gen.
For the past few weeks i have noticed puffs of white smoke when i start up in the mornings it lasts only while the car warms up and then its gone. it smells kinda like fuel but im not too sure.
Can anyone give me some advice please.
I have gone to about 5 different garages and they all give different stories.

I had this happen to me on a 99 Saab 95 turbo. It turned out to be the seals in the turbo giving out. Eventually, the turbo shot out white smoke all the time...(James Bond smoke screen style). Replacing a turbo on a Saab is a real bi#@()...but I have noticed that on the A4, it looks like a piece of cake.
My car also smelled of gas too because the fuel was going to the exhaust where it was being burned up.

i second this, any start up puffs of smoke will be seals going, i cant think of the company, may even be garret them selfs but they were doing recon units in exchange for old/broken one for about £270, also while you get one comming they set the a/r and trims how you want them for a little extra.
worth a go. defently cheaper then a new one and certintly more reliable then a s/h unit to which you wouldnt want to fit.
i know when i buy a a4 which should be this week comming, first on list will be a recon ko3s, least then you know what you have from go

You can check buy pulling your lower air intake tube off and see if there is any oil in the tube/hose. If there is oil its then time to think about getting your turbo rebuilt.
or more so upgrade to ko3s or ko4. may as well upgrade while your at it for the price of a stock unit rebuilt or new
