First of all, I would like to say that I'm new here, so hi to everybody!

I've just bought an 2003 RS6 sedan, which has problems with oem brakes- they are rusty and old, so I now need to change them with new rotors and pads.
I would like to hear some opinions from RS6 drivers about Zimmerman Formula Z rotors - good or bad? And what kind of pads should I use with zimmerman's?

Kind regards.

Certain videos, when the protagonists speak a foreign language, don't need subtitles: Mexican telenovelas, dolphins in love and auto racing are but three. Although the narration is in Spanish and there isn't any racing in this video of former WRC Champion Carlos Sainz and current DTM driver Miguel Molina lapping the Autódromo Terramar, the action needs no translation.

Terramar, in Spain, is the second oldest racing track in Europe after England's Brooklands, built in 1922 to host Grand Prix cars. Its owner's vision stretched further this his financial backing, so the two-kilometer oval track with 60-degree bankings hosted only one sanctioned race in 1923. After that, it was used sporadically, holding its last event in 1950. It is now part of land used for a chicken farm.

That didn't stop Sainz and Molina from seeing how fast they could lap the 80-year-old circuit in a Red Bull Racing Audi R8 LMS. The video is a bit long, but it's well-shot and definitely worth watching for the high banking and bumpy airborn Audi shots alone. Check out the action by scrolling down to watch the video.Continue reading Watch Carlos Sainz flog this Audi R8 LMS around an 80-year-old GP track

Running a high-end automobile manufacturer like Bentley or Bugatti has got to be a dream job for most any business executive. And Wolfgang Dürheimer gets to run them both - but not for much longer, according to the latest reports coming in from trade publication Automotive News Europe.

According to ANE, the former Porsche development chief is set to move to Audi in a broad management restructure aimed at reducing the average age of Ingolstadt's seven-member management board. In his new capacity, Dürheimer (53) is tipped to replace Audi's current development chief, Michael Dick (60), who is expected to retire later this year.

Along with Dürheimer, Volkswagen marketing director Luca de Meo (44, formerly of Fiat) is expected to replace Audi sales chief Peter Schwartzenbauer (60), while Volkswagen purchasing manager Bernd Martens replaces his Audi counterpart Ulf Berkenhagen, who will take up the same role at the group's commercial vehicles division. Audi production chief Frank Dreves is also expected to leave his post, though no replacement was named in the report.

Of course with any game of musical chairs - or "Reise nach Jerusalem" as they call it in German for some reason - replacements will need to be found for the positions being left vacant. We'll be watching who is named head of Bentley and Bugatti, both roles that Dürheimer assumed from Dr. Franz-Josef Paefgen (pictured above at right), who last we heard was still in the group organizing its classic vehicles division.Bentley/Bugatti chief Durheimer moving to Audi in management shake-up originally appeared on Autoblog on Sun, 13 May 2012 14:04:00 EST. Audi plans to show off a new concept version of the Q3 at the Worthersee Tour in Austria next week. The Q3 Red Track boasts the same 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine found under the hood of the Audi TT RS, and thus, there's a galloping 340 horsepower and 331 pound-feet of torque on hand. A seven-speed S Tronic gearbox handles shifting duties and drops the available grunt to all four tires via the company's Quattro all-wheel-drive system. In addition to the extra power, the Red Track wears unique Energy Red paint flecked with gold, while accents like the fender flares and lower fascia are coated in matte gray.

Likewise, the headlight arrays wear body-color accents, and massive 20-inch five-spoke wheels help set the crossover apart from its production kin. Audi also stretched the track by by 1.5 inches and lifted the machine by 1.2 inches for a beefier stance. The Red Track will be on display at the Worthersee Tour starting on May 16. Scroll down for the full press release.Continue reading Audi Q3 Red Track heads to Worthersee Tour
The global luxury war has three fierce combatants, all German, all producers of amazing vehicles, and all serious about besting their two other rivals. While BMW has been winning as of late, the latest battle goes to Audi.

The Volkswagen luxury brand sold 125,200 vehicles in April, topping BMW's 121,476, according to Reuters. It was the first time Audi outsold BMW since January 2011. BMW still holds the year-to-date lead with 478,030 units sold, compared to 471,300 for April's champ, according to the report. BMW sales are up 10.1 percent for the year, while Audi's have risen by 11.7 percent.

Mercedes-Benz sits over 50,000 units behind at 418,246, according to Automotive News. Sales of Mercedes vehicles are up 9.7 percent on the year.

Audi's ascendency can be traced to China, where sales rose 44 percent in April, according to AN. European sales, by comparison, were only up 4.9 percent, with U.S. sales rising by 15 percent.Audi narrowly beats BMW in April to take premium sales crown originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 10 May 2012 14:01:00 EST.

so to start, when i bought the car it had the abs warning and as i know there common i wasn't fussed, any how looking though paper work it shows a remapping centre had trouble connection to the system and says configuration mismatch, was quite confused so emailed the company and they basicly said

" see if it has any extra wiring and box though before the fuel temp sensor.

I know it seems a silly question but did you have the keys at the 2nd switch so the ignition on?

You could have faulty obd2 wiring perhaps, but id try another scanner first before id go testing wiring. Not nesisarily dealer level equipment but a independent garage might do a scan for smaller money. "

well had it on a diagnostic unit that a friend bought home from work (bosch) and the unit couldn't find any thing, he went directly to the abs system and although it ticked from 0/8 to 8/8 it still said no systems found

so what's my problem here? wiring in the ob2 plug broke or some thing else? were does the ob2 plug go to? direct to ecu? wondering if i buy a ob2 wiring harness and see if i can then get some thing or maybe buy a ob2 kit to the laptop and see if that works? any info or troubleshooting would be good, are you able to test the plug with a multimeter?

When Audi announced the 2013 A8 with the 3.0T V6, it didn't mention fuel economy numbers but did tout the 333-horsepower engine's "great efficiency." According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency, the V6 efficiency exactly matches that of the more powerful 372-horsepower, 4.2-liter V8 - the 3.0T was rated the same 18 city, 28 highway as the naturally aspirated 4.2.

It's figured that the stop/start system fitted to the V6 will provide a slight bump, which, since the EPA doesn't factory such tech into its testing, doesn't register in the official numbers. It's difficult to make fuel economy comparisons with the same engines in other countries since they have different power ratings; in Germany, for instance, the V6 is rated at 286 hp, the 4.2 isn't offered and the 4.0 TSFI V8 makes 414 hp - but in that case, the V6 does get better gas mileage, if you're wondering.

Speaking of wondering, that's what many including our own commenters are doing about the space between the 333-hp V6 and 520-hp V8 in the S8. The report in Car and Driver posits a detuned version of the S8's motor. No matter what, the V6 A8 will be less expensive than all of them, which was the real point all along.2013 Audi A8 3.0T matches 4.2 V8 fuel economy numbers originally appeared on Autoblog on Tue, 08 May 2012 19:01:00 EST.

hi all
well been out of a turbo'd car for some time after been made redundant. but now getting back on feet, want to get my self a 1.8t but couldnt decide which maker/model, not enough for a celica gt four but to juicy now for fuel priced any way,.
so after deciding, golf, passat, or a4 i decided a quattro is what i need if what plan goes ahead, ie k04, big fmic and alloy rad, etc then i decided, to get power down smoothly and quickly a quattro was best, fwd would just create undrivable power that i want in the end. which engine code are on these? agu as its the 180 one? any idea if these have the ko3s or is that on the sport?

so the car is very clean inside and out, 18" rs4 alloys and adjustable coilovers, unknown make, sitting quite nicely just really sets it off.

any how some pictures from piston head ad

148k, cam belt water pump temp sender and other belts etc 145k new upper and lower arms (does this sound odd to you or routne?, nsr abs unit,

basicly please let me know common things to look wise, (model related) i know the normal stuff rust, wear etc then test driver alone for a good 15 mins to get a feel for the car,

ideas well looking for the big 3, good mate works for sts which have there own power flow centre, he can get me a s/s system dirt cheap, and proper hig flow cat, "3 down pipe to 2.75 after the cat with free flowing pipes but have enough to deaden town and motor way driving, hopefully will get a nice on boost bark which nice sounds on the gear shift, hoping to get that deep thud as the instant boost wave creates back draft, love it when a turbo'd car makes that gear change pop, .

other then that , first thought? first mods other then fmic and alloy rad. remap after viper induction and s/s exhaust or hold off the remap till a ko4? or remap again to add turbo to mix, ultimately in the end id want it on a gt28rs reworked by garret for some nice punchy low /mid boost, so sad i sold lots of my bits, ie big pace intercooler, big turbo, never mind this set back has made me look at this engine to tune rather then the celica or scooby, plus do love the shape.

Porsche 960 to be a Ferrari-fighting four-door coupe

Automobile's Georg Kacher goes deep into the Volkswagen product plan, looking at the 32 models that the group's ten brands will roll out over the next five years. These vehicles are expected to drive VW to the top of the mountain in 2018, where the flag for World's Largest Automaker awaits.

The armada is based on three platforms: MQB for transverse FWD/AWD cars like the VW Golf, MLB for the longitudinal FWD/AWD cars in Audi's stable, and MSB for AWD/RWD front-, rear- and mid-engined cars like the Porsche 960.

Said to be due in 2015, the 960 is the supercar discussed last year as a bridge model between the 911 and 918, but Kacher has it listed with the MSB-M platform cars like the Porsche Boxster/Cayman and Lamborghini Aventador, not the front-engined MSB-F or rear-engined MSB-H cars. Yet the 960 is said to be a Ferrari-fighting "four-door coupe" powered by a twin-turbo flat-six. We'll wait for clarification on the number of doors, since in September of last year, Kacher's scoop for Car posited the 960 as a mid-engined coupe priced "on the creepy side of €200,000."

Other intriguing notes from the plan: for VW, a CC coupe is planned for 2016, the Passat might get a coupe variant, the second-generation Scirocco "has the potential" for U.S. sales and the Eos will be replaced; Audi is desgining an even edgier third-generation TT, the A4 will experiment with e-quattro, and the next-generation A6 will break the same-sausage, different-lengths design mold.Porsche 960 to be a Ferrari-fighting four-door coupe originally appeared on Autoblog on Sun, 06 May 2012 18:02:00 EST. Europe's financial situation is, well, bad. So no one was surprised to see analysts' low expectations for German carmakers. But the numbers are out, and whaddya know? Three German auto companies have reported better results than predicted.

BMW reported this week that its first quarter profit rose 19 percent. BMW said 1-Series sales jumped 20 percent, which helped the company deliver a record total of 425,528 vehicles in the first quarter.

Last week, Daimler and Volkswagen blew past analysts' expectations with VW increasing profit 10 percent and Daimler making 4.9 percent more that last year's first quarter.

Much of the profit and sales boost is due to growing popularity of German models in U.S. and China. A couple of analysts quoted in a Bloomberg report are split on what the future holds. One says he expects BMW and VW to raise their second quarter forecasts. Another sees China's market cooling off and gives BMW a neutral rating while rating VW and Daimler as good buys. So far this year automotive companies (including suppliers) are the best performing stocks in Europe.German automakers defy analyst predictions by earning huge profits originally appeared on Autoblog on Fri, 04 May 2012 18:44:00 EST. Audi is rapidly expanding its crossover range, with the Q3 recently joining the Q5 and Q7, not to mention the BMW X6-rivaling Q6 that's in the pipeline. But now, according to Auto Express, Audi is working on an entry-level Q2 crossover that would take on the likes of the Nissan Juke and Mini Countryman.

Auto Express has come up with a rendering of the Q2 (pictured right, click to see the full deal), which we'll reportedly see in concept form sometime in the next 12 months, and - surprise, surprise - it looks like a sportier Q3 or, more to the point, a high-riding A1. Because of its small size, powertrains will likely be plucked out of the A1 range, meaning a 1.4-liter turbocharged inline-four and a 1.6-liter diesel four will be offered.

Audi will also reportedly take a cue from Mini with the Q2 launch, encouraging owners to personalize their small CUVs in a number of ways. According to the report, buyers will be able to opt for contrasting roof and mirror colors, as well as different-colored major interior trim bits, including the seats and steering wheel.

The Q2 will ride on the same MQB architecture that is set to underpin the full range of Volkswagen Group small cars. That said, Auto Express reports that the Q2 will launch before the rest of the small cars are facelifted in 2014.Audi Q2 to take on Nissan Juke? originally appeared on Autoblog on Fri, 04 May 2012 16:29:00 EST.
We just attended a thorough workshop covering the tech inside the next Audi A3, the new compact from Ingolstadt that the U.S. gets in October 2013 as a five-door Sportback model, as well as a new four-door small sedan. A concept version of the four-door was shown at the Geneva Motor Show last year, while deliveries of this European hatchback start this July.

Our first drive of the three-door premium hatchback model that will be available at launch happens later this month, though it's sort of a shame we won't be getting this three-door here in the States. The five-door Sportback model that will be sold in the U.S. will be shown this October at the Paris Motor Show and will be available in Western European in January of next year. The premium hatch segment is fillling up fast now with this Audi, then the Volvo V40, to be followed then by the all-new Mercedes-Benz A-Class.Continue reading New details on the next Audi A3

While the Toyota TS030 Hybrid won't be participating in this weekend's FIA World Endurance Championship race at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium due to a crash in pre-season testing last month, that didn't stop the automaker from bringing the new endurance racer as a preview for what's to come for the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June. The TS030 even made time for a quick photoshoot at the infamous Masta Kink alongside the new Audi R18 e-tron Quattro, which happens to be making its race debut this weekend.

While both the Audi and Toyota employ hybrid powertrains, a first for endurance prototypes, each go about it in very different ways. The TS030 makes use of a naturally aspirated 3.4-liter V8 while the R18 e-tron Quattro uses a turbocharged diesel V6. Audi's hybrid system powers the front wheels, hence the Quattro name, while Toyota has yet to announce whether it's system will drive the front or rear wheels.

The closed cockpit racers make for quite an attractive couple, and we hope it's a pairing that will form a lasting rivalry in the coming years.Toyota TS030 and Audi R18 E-Tron Quattro pose for the camera originally appeared on Autoblog on Fri, 04 May 2012 09:59:00 EST. How Less Of Everything Equals More

It's been fascinating to sample Audi's new EA824 V8 in all of its various incarnations. Our first crack at the new TFSI powerplant was in Audi's own 513-horsepower S8, and we then went on to try it out in the new Bentley Continental GT and GTC V8 models. Most recently, we dipped into the 4.0-liter biturbo in the new S7 before getting behind the wheel of the closely related S6 seen here.

Versus the previous S6 with its muy macho Lamborghini-derived 5.2-liter V10, everything is quicker, more efficient and lighter in weight. The new fourth-generation S6 Quattro with S-tronic seven-speed dual clutch comes in at a European curb weight of 4,178 pounds - about 30 pounds lighter than the previous V10-stuffed car with its automated six-speed. Yes, power is slightly lower now at 414 horses, but peak torque of 406 pound-feet is slightly higher and happens over a vastly wider range of 1,400 to 5,200 rpm. Audi's 0-62 miles per hour sprint time is now listed at 4.6 seconds, a figure that compares favorably with the outgoing car's official 5.2-second time.

For my test drive, Audi thoughtfully provided a couple of S6 four-door setups for me to sample: those with Dynamic Steering and the torque vectoring sport Quattro rear differential, and those without. You know which trim I went for already. So equipped, these S6 sedans were all painted Misano Red... an exterior color that Americans cannot get this time around. So, just visualize me thundering around Bavaria in a car painted shades of white, black, silver, gray, or blue, since those are the paint chips you'll find on the order sheet at your local dealer.Continue reading 2013 Audi S6
